NFL Draft 2016: Jared Goff is the betting favorite to be the top pick over Carson Wentz

The Rams are on the clock with the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, and Cal quarterback Jared Goff is the favorite to be their selection.

The Los Angeles Rams went 7-9 straight up and 7-8-1 against the spread last year in their final season in St. Louis. Hoping to make a splash heading into the 2016 season, the Rams made a trade with the Tennessee Titans for the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Quarterback Jared Goff is a -850 favorite to be the first pick in the draft at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The California standout passed for 4,719 yards and 43 touchdowns in 13 games for the Golden Bears in his junior season last year.

North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz is going off at +500 to be the first overall pick, and the field (any other player) would pay +5000.

With Goff and Wentz expected to be the top two overall picks after the Philadelphia Eagles traded up to the No. 2 spot, the Total Quarterbacks Drafted in Round 1 total of OVER 2.5 quarterbacks is a big favorite at -1200 over the UNDER 2.5 at +650.

Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch is considered to be less NFL-ready than the two quarterbacks above him, but a team in need of a quarterback like the New York Jets or Denver Broncos could take a flier on him.

NFL teams have been wary about spending first-round picks on running backs in recent years, instead opting to find value at this position in later rounds. The Total Running Backs Drafted in Round 1 total is currently set at 1.5 (OVER +260, UNDER -350).

Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott seems highly likely to be a first-round choice, but after that the board gets a bit less clear.

The 2016 NFL Draft is loaded with potential value at the wide receiver position. Notre Dame’s Will Fuller and Ole Miss’s Laquon Treadwell are both expected to go in the first round, with Fuller possessing next-level speed and Treadwell owning excellent size and strength.

Other potential first-round wideouts include Corey Coleman (Baylor), Josh Doctson (TCU) and Michael Thomas (Ohio State). The total for wide receivers is set at 3.5, with the UNDER 3.5 favored at -140 over the OVER 3.5 at +110.
