Spurs vs. Warriors odds 2016: Golden State home favorite vs. San Antonio on Thursday

Coming off of an ugly loss to Minnesota, Golden State will try to right the ship as a betting favorite against San Antonio on Thursday.

The Golden State Warriors are 3-7 against the spread over their last 10 games with a 1-2 straight up record in their last three games. To avoid their third home loss of the season, the Warriors will need to defeat the San Antonio Spurs Thursday night.

Golden State is a 5.5-point betting favorite at home according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Warriors are just 1-5 ATS in their last six games at home.

Just four days after suffering a stunning home loss as an 11.5-point favorite against the Boston Celtics, the Warriors lost an even more surprising game to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night.

Favored by 14.5 points, the Warriors led by as many as 17 in the third quarter, but eventually saw that lead slip away as the Timberwolves forced overtime and eventually pulled off the 124-117 upset. Golden State is 1-2 SU over its last three games after going 29-3 SU over its previous 32 games.

The Warriors have struggled against the Spurs in recent seasons. San Antonio is 9-2 SU and 8-3 ATS in its last 11 games against the Warriors per the OddsShark NBA Database.

As the regular season dwindles down, the Spurs continue to place an emphasis on controlling the minutes of their star players to make sure the team is rested and ready for the playoffs. The Spurs continue to win games with this game plan, but haven’t been covering many spreads; over the team’s last 14 games, San Antonio is 12-2 SU but just 5-9 ATS. This will be just the fourth time that the Spurs will be a betting underdog this season, going 0-3 SU and ATS in those previous three instances.

Thursday’s total opened at 212.5 points. The UNDER is 7-2-1 in the last 10 games between San Antonio and Golden State.

The Spurs and the Warriors are the two best teams in the NBA this season, making any game between them must-see TV. It’s tough to estimate what Gregg Popovich’s plan for the Spurs will be in this game, but it’s safe to assume that Steve Kerr and the Warriors will be playing to win with a 73-9 season still in reach and the desire to get some mojo back at home heading into the postseason.
