Warriors vs. Thunder 2016 odds: Golden State betting favorite at Oklahoma City in Game 3

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors head to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder in Game 3 as betting favorites at the sportsbooks.

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors are 4-2 straight up and against the spread in their last six postseason road games. The Warriors hope to continue that road success in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals squaring off against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night.

Golden State is a 2.5-point road favorite in Sunday’s contest at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Thunder were also a 2.5-point home underdog in Game 3 against the San Antonio Spurs, failing to cover in the 100-96 loss.

Overreactions by fans and the media are common in sports, and after Golden State’s loss in Game 1, many were wondering if the Thunder should be considered the new favorites to win the West. But the Warriors haven’t lost consecutive games all season long, and a 118-91 blowout in Game 2 once again made the Warriors look like the dominant defending champions that they are.

Now, Golden State must carry that momentum into what figure to be a pair of very tough road games in Oklahoma City.

The Thunder aren’t an underdog often, but they haven’t fared too well in recent seasons when they have been one. The team is 4-17 SU and 7-13-1 ATS in its last 21 games as a betting underdog per the OddsShark NBA Database.

Oklahoma City didn’t look sharp in Game 2, but the team’s win in Game 1 earned the Thunder home-court advantage over the next five games. Perhaps more importantly, it once again reaffirmed that the team can win on the road and in the fourth quarter, as it established in beating San Antonio in six games.

The Thunder are 0-4 SU and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games as a home underdog, but have already picked up three outright upsets this postseason.

Sunday’s total is set at 220 points at the sportsbooks. The UNDER is 2-0 in this series and 5-0 in Oklahoma City’s last five games as a dog.

With the Eastern Conference Finals looking lopsided in Cleveland’s favor through the first two games, all eyes are on the Western Conference Finals between these two juggernauts. With Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook on the floor, every game in this series has the potential to be an instant classic.
