Home Run Derby 2016 odds: Giancarlo Stanton set as favorite on Derby betting lines for Monday night

Giancarlo Stanton and MLB home run leader Mark Trumbo lead the field into the Home Run Derby as the betting favorites at the sportsbooks.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Mark Trumbo is the MLB leader with 28 home runs. The Baltimore Orioles' star is one of the favorites to win this year's Home Run Derby in San Diego.

Trumbo is going off at +375 on the odds to win the Home Run Derby at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Giancarlo Stanton is the favorite to win the event at +300.

In the first round, Trumbo is a -175 favorite against Corey Seager, who would pay +145 on an upset. Seager's 17 home runs pale in comparison to Trumbo's 28, but the young shortstop did show a knack for hitting bombs in bunches with five home runs in a three-game span back in June. Seager may grade out as a better pure hitter than Trumbo, but on power alone he is at a clear disadvantage.

Stanton is one of the hardest hitters in all of baseball. While he only has 20 home runs this season due to a slow start to the season, the Marlins slugger will be tough to beat in a skills competition centered around one of his greatest strengths. The Marlins slugger will be a -175 favorite in the first round against Robinson Cano (+135), who has turned back the clock this season with 21 home runs in the first half of the season.

With the game being played at Petco Park, Wil Myers will be a popular choice in the first round as a -150 favorite in front of his home crowd. But there could be some value on his opponent, Cincinnati Reds outfielder Adam Duvall at +110. Duvall has hit for power at every level and is enjoying a breakout campaign with 23 home runs.

Rounding out the opening round, defending champion Todd Frazier is a -140 favorite in the first round over Carlos Gonzalez at even money. Frazier is tied for second place in the majors in home runs this season with 25.

Bettors looking to put money on who will win the entire event can do so at the following odds: Stanton (+300), Trumbo (+375), Myers (+550), Frazier (+600), Duvall (+600), Gonzalez (+800), Seager (+900), Cano (+1000).
