NFL preseason odds 2016: NFL exhibition betting slate wraps up on Thursday night

Six teams are still undefeated heading into Week 4 of the NFL preseason schedule, including the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles are 8-1 straight up and against the spread over their last nine preseason games, including a perfect 3-0 SU and ATS record in 2016. The Eagles will try to stay perfect with a win at home over the New York Jets on Thursday.

Philadelphia is a 4-point favorite for Thursday’s matchup at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Over the last three seasons, the Eagles have been one of the most reliable preseason bets in the NFL, not only winning eight of their last nine games but also doing so by eight points or more in all eight of those wins.

The Jets were the one team to beat the Eagles in their last nine games, winning 24-18 as a 3.5-point home underdog in the final week of the preseason last year.

The Minnesota Vikings are also trying to close out a perfect preseason on Thursday as a 4.5-point favorite against the Los Angeles Rams. Minnesota’s preseason dominance spans out even longer than Philadelphia’s, stretching back to the final preseason game of 2013 with a 12-1 SU and 11-2 ATS record over the team’s last 13 preseason contests.

The Vikings are 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS at home over that stretch per the OddsShark NFL Database.

If the first three games of the preseason can be used as an indicator, the Baltimore Ravens might provide some value on Thursday as a 3.5-point underdog on the road against the New Orleans Saints.

The Ravens are 3-0 SU and ATS this preseason with wins over Carolina, Indianapolis and Detroit, while the Saints are 0-3 SU and ATS through their first three games of the preseason. The Saints have lost their first three games by an average margin of 10.7 points per game.

The remaining three 3-0 teams that will try to wrap up the preseason undefeated are the New England Patriots (+2.5) at the New York Giants, the Houston Texans (-1) at the Dallas Cowboys, and the Green Bay Packers (+3.5) at the Kansas City Chiefs.

Dating back to 2007, the Chiefs are just 7-12 SU and 3-14-2 ATS in 19 preseason games at home. Kansas City, though, is projected to battle the Denver Broncos for the AFC West title during the regular season, which gets underway on September 8.
