Deutsche Bank Championship 2016 odds: Henrik Stenson behind favorite Jason Day on betting lines

Henrik Stenson is one of the past winners of the Deutsche Bank Championship who could pay out on the betting lines again this week.

Eric Sucar-USA TODAY Sports

Henrik Stenson won the Deutsche Bank Championship in 2013 and finished runner-up in the tournament in 2015. The Swedish star should be in the mix to win again this weekend in the FedExCup event at TPC Boston in Norton, Mass.

Stenson is going off at +1600 on the odds to win the Deutsche Bank Championship at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com Last week, he decided to withdraw from The Barclays with a right knee injury after shooting a first-round 74. The extra rest last weekend should help Stenson be ready for this week’s action, but his injury adds a bit of risk to his odds in this event.

Bettors looking for a much safer play may opt for Jason Day, who is the favorite in this event going off at +650 to win on the golf betting lines. Day earned his 10th top-10 finish of the season by finishing tied for fourth in The Barclays and has now finished in the top five in three of his last five events. Day was runner-up in this event back in 2010.

The defending champion is Rickie Fowler (+2000 to win the Deutsche Bank Championship), who is still seeking his first win of the 2016 season. Fowler had failed to crack the top 20 in eight of his last nine events before finishing tied for seventh in The Barclays last week. The American entered Sunday nine shots under par in that event before shooting a three-over-par 74 to fall out of the pack atop the leaderboard.

Jordan Spieth’s game appears to be rounding into form with a top-10 finish last week in The Barclays. Spieth (+1200) played well in both the PGA Championship and The Barclays, but hasn’t quite been able to get over the hump and back into the thick of things since winning the Dean & Deluca Invitational back in May. Perhaps the playoffs will give Spieth the boost he needs.

Other potential contenders on the Deutsche Bank Championship odds include Dustin Johnson (+900), Rory McIlroy (+1200), Adam Scott (+2200), Patrick Reed (+2200), Justin Rose (+2500), Bubba Watson (+3300), Phil Mickelson (+3300) and Sergio Garcia (+3300). Reed picked up his first win of the season last week with a nine-under-par performance in The Barclays.
