NFL odds and lines 2016, Week 2: Steelers, Patriots home betting favorites vs. rivals

The Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots both host division rivals as betting favorites on the Week 2 NFL card at the sportsbooks.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Bengals are 7-0 straight up and 6-0-1 against the spread in their last seven games played in the month of September. The Bengals will try to extend their September winning streak on the road this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cincinnati opened as a 3.5-point road underdog at Pittsburgh at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Steelers have dominated this rivalry over the last decade with a 15-5 SU and 14-5-1 ATS record in their last 20 games against the Bengals, including a 5-1 SU and 4-1-1 ATS record over the last six. Pittsburgh has won each of its last four games at home.

Jimmy Garoppolo rose to the challenge in his first NFL start on Sunday night, passing for 264 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions in New England’s 23-21 road upset over the Arizona Cardinals. The Patriots return home this Sunday as a 6.5-point favorite hosting the Miami Dolphins.

New England lost to Miami 20-10 in the final game of the regular season last year, which could be bad news for the Dolphins as the Patriots are 10-0 SU and 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 games after losing the previous matchup against a team.

NFL Week 2 Betting Lines (see the complete list at OddsShark.com)

Miami at New England (-6.5)

Indianapolis at Denver (-6)

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh (-3.5)

Philadelphia at Chicago (-3)

Green Bay (-2.5) at Minnesota

Kansas City at Houston (-2)

Two teams coming off opening week come-from-behind victories clash on Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs visit the Houston Texans. The game opened as a pick’em, but early betting action has moved the Texans up to a 2-point home favorite. The total has gone OVER in the Chiefs’ last six games in September per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Indianapolis is a 6-point underdog visiting the Denver Broncos in what could be a classic offense vs. defense showdown. Historically, the Colts have had the upper hand in this matchup with an 8-1 SU and 9-0 ATS record in their last nine games against the Broncos.

In the final two games of Week 2, Green Bay is a 2.5-point favorite on the road against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night and Philadelphia is a 3-point underdog visiting the Chicago Bears on Monday night. The Vikings are just 1-5 SU in their last six games played in Week 2.
