Packers vs. Vikings 2016 odds: Green Bay small betting favorites at Minnesota

The Green Bay Packers will be looking to pick up a win as the road favorites on Sunday night in a game against the division rival Minnesota Vikings.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers are 11-3 straight up and 9-5 against the spread in their last 14 games as a road favorite. The Packers will try to pick up their fourth straight win as a road favorite this Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings.

Green Bay is a 2.5-point favorite in Minneapolis at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last 10 games as a favorite overall, the Packers are just 3-7 ATS.

Aaron Rodgers was his usual efficient self last Sunday, passing for two touchdowns with no interceptions while leading Green Bay to a 27-23 road win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. After missing the entire 2015 season with a torn ACL, Jordy Nelson returned to action in Green Bay’s season opener with six receptions and a touchdown catch. If the Packers can stay healthy this year, this offense will likely be one of the best in the NFL.

In the last 13 games between these two rivals, Green Bay holds a 10-2-1 SU and 8-5 ATS edge over Minnesota, per the OddsShark NFL Database. The Vikings won their last game against the Packers, though, defeating Green Bay, 20-13, on the road to secure the top spot in the NFC North last season.

Betting Line / Total: Green Bay -2.5 / 43.5 Points

Trend: The Packers are 10-2-1 SU in their last 13 games against the Vikings.

Trend: The Vikings are 1-5 SU in their last six games in Week 2.

Riding its defense to a 25-16 win last Sunday on the road against the Tennessee Titans, Minnesota improved to 12-5 SU and 15-2 ATS over its last 17 games. Shaun Hill was serviceable under center for the Vikings filling in for the injured Teddy Bridgewater, passing for 236 yards without turning the ball over.

Sam Bradford has been taking reps with the starters during practice this week, but coach Mike Zimmer is staying quiet on who he plans to start against the Packers. Minnesota is 8-2 ATS in its last 10 games against teams with winning records.

Sunday’s total is set at 43.5 points. The UNDER is 7-3 in Minnesota’s last 10 home games and 3-0 in the last three games between these two teams.

Regardless of who starts at quarterback for Minnesota, the offense will run through running back Adrian Peterson. That offense will need to do its part and put up some points with Rodgers and the Packers in town.
