Eagles vs. Bears 2016 odds: Chicago a field-goal favorite against Philadelphia on Monday night

Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears will play host to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night looking to break out of their home losing streak.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears are 1-10 straight up and 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 games at home. The Bears will try to break out of their current five-game home losing streak this Monday night hosting the Philadelphia Eagles.

Chicago is a 3-point betting favorite at Soldier Field at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last six games as a home favorite, the Bears are 2-4 SU and ATS.

In October and November last season, the Bears showed signs of life with a solid stretch of football going 5-3 SU and 7-1 ATS over eight games. But that momentum came to a halt with a loss to the San Francisco 49ers at home as a 6-point favorite, sparking a 1-4 SU and ATS skid to end the season.

Chicago is expected to improve on last year’s underwhelming 6-10 SU campaign in John Fox’s second season at the helm, but the Bears got off to another disappointing start with a 23-14 loss in Houston last Sunday.

The Bears are 6-4 SU in their last 10 games as a favorite of three points or more, but have gone just 1-8-1 ATS over that stretch per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Betting Line / Total: Chicago -3 / 42.5 Points

Trend: The Eagles are 5-2 SU in their last seven games on the road against the Bears.

Trend: The Bears are 1-10 SU in their last 11 games at home.

While first overall pick Jared Goff was listed as inactive for the St. Louis Rams in Week 1, second overall pick Carson Wentz was making a name for himself in his pro debut. The rookie passed for 278 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in Philadelphia’s 29-10 win at home against the Cleveland Browns.

The Eagles have historically played well in Chicago with a 5-2 SU and 4-3 ATS record in their last seven road games against the Bears.

Sunday’s total is set at 42.5 points. The OVER is 6-1 in Chicago’s last seven games with a total set at 42.5 points or fewer.

Wentz looked good at home against the Browns, but a hostile road environment and a team with a stronger defense will be a tougher test for the young quarterback. Chicago was unable to recover from an 0-2 SU start last season, and should be extra motivated to both avoid the same start this year and end its home losing streak on Monday night.
