Dolphins vs. Bengals 2016 odds: Miami rides strong ATS run vs. Cincinnati into Thursday

The Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals will each try to avoid 1-3 starts on Thursday, with the Dolphins touchdown underdogs on the road.

William Hauser-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins are 9-2 straight up and against the spread in their last 11 games against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Dolphins hope to continue that winning trend on the road this Thursday night in Cincinnati.

Miami is a 7-point road underdog on Thursday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last seven games against teams with losing records, the Dolphins are 0-7 ATS.

Going off as a 9.5-point favorite at home against an injury-depleted Cleveland Browns team, the Dolphins needed overtime to come away with a 30-24 victory. Miami’s defense has been awful in the early stages of the season, ranking 28th in total yards allowed at 415 per game and 31st in rushing yards allowed at 147.3 per game.

The unit should get a reprieve against the run this week with Cincinnati averaging just 82 yards per game on the ground. With the narrow victory over Cleveland, Miami brought its season record to 1-2 SU and ATS.

The Dolphins haven't put up much of a fight as a road underdog in recent seasons, going just 4-13 SU and 6-11 ATS in their last 17 instances as one, per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Betting Line / Total: Cincinnati -7 / 44.5 Points

Trend: The Dolphins are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games against the Bengals.

Trend: The Bengals are 5-20 ATS in their last 25 games in Week 4.

A tough schedule out of the gate hasn’t done the Bengals any favors, but for a team coming off of a 12-4 SU and 12-3-1 ATS campaign, a 1-2 SU and ATS start is very disappointing.

Andy Dalton’s rough day against Denver’s relentless defense in a 29-17 loss wasn’t too surprising, but allowing quarterback Trevor Siemian to pass for 312 yards and four touchdowns certainly was. The Bengals are 2-3 SU and 0-3-2 ATS in their last five games since going 11-4 SU and 12-2-1 ATS in their previous 15 games.

Sunday’s total is set at 44.5 points. The UNDER is 8-0 in Miami’s last eight games played on a Thursday.

This figures to be a favorable matchup for the Bengals, especially at home. But considering the fact that the defense has allowed seven passing touchdowns over the last two games, Ryan Tannehill could have a big day and keep this game close for the Dolphins. Cincinnati is just 5-20 ATS in its last 25 Week 4 games.
