Seattle is an 8-point home favorite at CenturyLink Field at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Though the Seahawks have won seven of their last eight games played in the month of January, Seattle is just 2-5-1 ATS over that stretch.
The Seahawks have had to overcome their share of injuries and shaky play this season, but they did plenty to run away with the NFC West with a 10-5-1 SU and 7-8-1 ATS record.
The absence of safety Earl Thomas was noticeable over the team’s last four games, as Seattle allowed an uncharacteristic 24.5 points per game. That unit will get a good early postseason test on Saturday against Matt Stafford and Detroit’s solid passing attack.
Night games have fared quite well for Seattle in recent seasons. The Seahawks are 20-4-2 ATS in their last 26 games played at night per the OddsShark NFL Database.

On the heels of an 8-1 SU and 7-2 ATS run, the Detroit Lions had multiple chances over their last three games to lock up a playoff spot with a win. Instead, the Lions fizzled out with an 0-3 SU and ATS run to end the season, backing into a playoff spot thanks to Washington’s loss to the New York Giants in Week 17.
Detroit went 0-5 SU and ATS against teams that advanced to the postseason this year, picking up all of nine of its wins against non-playoff teams.
Saturday’s total is set at 43 points. The OVER is 5-1 in Seattle’s last six postseason games.
Detroit hasn’t won a postseason game since 1992, going 0-8 SU over its last eight playoff games. Seattle has advanced to two of the last three Super Bowls and has one of the best home field advantages in the NFL.
There doesn’t figure to be much drama in deciding the outright winner of this game, but the spread could make it interesting depending on how well Seattle’s offense plays.
