Eagles at Panthers OddsShark Matchup Report

Carolina Panthers

One year after advancing to the Super Bowl with only one loss, the Panthers hit a wall in 2016 and went just 6-10 SU and 6-8-1 ATS. This season, Carolina is back on track with a 4-1 SU and 3-1-1 ATS record. Cam Newton has shown flashes of his MVP form with 1,237 passing yards and eight passing touchdowns through Carolina’s first five games.

The defense has also been great, ranking fifth in total yards allowed with 274 per game and ninth in points per game allowed at 18.8.

In their last 14 games at home against teams with winning records, the Panthers are 10-4 SU per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have reigned supreme in the NFC East so far with a 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS record, fueled by an offense that ranks third in the NFL in total yards with 397.8 per game and fifth in scoring with 27.4 points per game. Carson Wentz has passed for 1,362 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Philadelphia is will try to snap an 0-6 SU and 1-5 ATS losing streak on the road against teams with winning records.

Thursday night’s total is set at 45 points. The OVER is 12-3 in Philadelphia’s last 15 games on the road.

Six of the last seven games played on Thursday Night Football have been decided by five points or less. These two teams look likely to continue that trend of close games as they match up strength against strength in Carolina’s defense vs. Philadelphia’s offense. Home field gives Carolina the slight edge on paper, but this looks like an extremely evenly-matched game.
