Sooners vs. Longhorns OddsShark Matchup Report

Oklahoma Sooners

The Sooners entered an inconspicuous game against the Iowa State Cyclones last Saturday riding a 14-0 SU and 10-4 ATS run. Oklahoma had a bye week to prepare for a team that it had beaten 18 straight times, entering the game as a 31-point home favorite.

But instead of rolling to an easy win as expected, the Sooners suffered one of the worst losses in their program’s history, losing outright to the Cyclones 38-31 to put their playoff hopes in jeopardy.

Historically, the Sooners have bounced back well from losses. Oklahoma is 24-2 SU in its last 26 games when coming off a loss.

Texas Longhorns

It looked like the Longhorns might be in for a long season when they dropped their first game of the year, 51-41, at home against the Maryland Terrapins as 19-point home favorites. But since then, Texas has played quite well, going 4-0 ATS and 3-1 SU while only narrowly losing 27-24 as 16.5-point underdogs at USC.

In addition to going 4-0 ATS in their last four games against Oklahoma, the Longhorns have two outright upsets over that stretch as double-digit underdogs.

Saturday’s total is set at 64.5 points. The UNDER is 10-2 over Texas’ last 12 games according to the OddsShark College Football Database.

A few weeks ago, this game would have looked like just another stepping stone on Oklahoma’s path towards a playoff spot. Back-to-back disasters on defense against Baylor and Iowa State have changed things, making Oklahoma look a lot more vulnerable than they did earlier in the year.

The Sooners are still the superior team on paper, but recent form suggests that Texas should give their rivals a tough test on Saturday.
