When Adam Gase was hired to be head coach of the Dolphins in 2016, it was for his history of running successful offenses. That hasn’t shown up on the field at all in 2017.
Miami ranks second to last in the NFL in total yards per game with 270.3 and dead last in scoring offense with 14.5 points per game. Strong play on defense and special teams has helped keep the Dolphins afloat with a 4-4 SU and 3-3-2 ATS record, but Miami isn’t likely to make the playoffs if it doesn’t get more production out of the offense in the second half of the season.

The one constant thread this season has been the team’s stout defense, which is the best in the NFL in yards per game against at 274.1 and fourth in scoring defense, allowing 17.7 points per game.
Monday night’s total is set at 38.5 points. The UNDER is 7-2 in Carolina’s last nine games as a favorite.
The worst offense in the league facing the best defense in the league doesn’t look like a good situation for the Dolphins. But in a game in which scoring will likely be at a premium on both sides, nine points may be hard for Miami backers to pass up on.
