Falcons at Saints OddsShark Matchup Report

New Orleans Saints

New Orleans bounced back from its heartbreaking Thursday Night Football road loss to the Atlanta Falcons with a 31-19 win at home over the New York Jets last Sunday. A sluggish start against the lowly Jets suggests that the Saints may have been looking ahead to this rematch last week, but they still came away with the win. The Saints are a perfect 8-0 SU in their last eight games played in the early afternoon.

There is no love lost between the Saints and Falcons who have had a very even rivalry in recent years. These two teams are 6-6 SU and ATS in their last 12 games against each other per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons held off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a 24-21 win on Monday night as seven-point road favorites. With the win, the Falcons improved to 9-5 SU and 6-8 ATS on the year and retained control of their postseason destiny. Devonta Freeman had season highs in rushing yards (126) and receiving yards (68) in the win. Atlanta is 11-9 SU and 14-6 ATS in its last 20 games as a betting underdog.

Sunday’s total is set at 52.5 points. The OVER is 5-1 in New Orleans’ last six divisional home games.

Every game between New Orleans and Atlanta feels high in stakes, but this one really will be. The winner of this game will clinch a playoff spot and control its destiny for the NFC South title heading into Week 17. The loser would need a win next week and help from elsewhere to advance into the postseason. Three of the last four games between the Falcons and Saints have been decided by six points or fewer, and this figures to be another battle right down to the wire.
