Spurs vs. Clippers odds 2017: San Antonio seeks to turn around fortunes against Los Angeles

The San Antonio Spurs will try to pick up a road win over the Los Angeles Clippers this Friday night and improve their SU and ATS records in their recent matchups.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The San Antonio Spurs are just 2-5 straight up and 3-4 against the spread in their last seven games against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Spurs hope to solve the Clippers this Friday night at the Staples Center.

In their last three trips to Los Angeles to face the Clippers, the Spurs are 0-3 SU and 1-2 ATS.

The Spurs entered the All-Star break with the second-best record in the NBA behind only the Golden State Warriors at 43-13 SU and 31-24-1 ATS. San Antonio also ranks second in the league behind Golden State in points differential, averaging 8.4 points per game more than its opponents.

This will be San Antonio’s first game out of the All-Star break, which gave the team a full eight days of rest heading into this one.

At 24-7 SU, the Spurs have more wins on the road than any other team in the league. San Antonio is 8-3 SU and 6-5 ATS in its last 11 games away from home per the OddsShark NBA Database.

Trend: The Spurs are 1-2 ATS in their last three road games against the Clippers.

Trend: The Clippers are 10-5 ATS in their last 15 games at home.

Unlike the Spurs who have had over a week in between games, the Clippers will be playing against San Antonio on the second night of a back-to-back after visiting Golden State on Thursday night. Fatigue could be an issue for Los Angeles, but it could wind up being offset by rust on the Spurs’ side.

The Clippers have enjoyed recent success against San Antonio and enter Friday night’s game with an 11-4 SU and 10-5 ATS record in their last 15 games at home.

The UNDER is 8-3 in Los Angeles’ last 11 home games for totals bettors at the sportsbooks.

Games between the Clippers and the Spurs have carried some extra emotional weight since these two teams battled in an epic seven-game playoff series back in 2015. The Clippers erased a 3-2 series deficit to win the set, and since the start of 2015 have enjoyed a 9-5 SU and 8-6 ATS edge over San Antonio.

The Spurs will look to flip the recent script between these two teams with a road win on Friday.
