Cavaliers vs. Celtics odds 2017: Cleveland slim betting favorite at Boston for Wednesday

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be looking to extend their lead in the East with a win over the Boston Celtics as small chalk at the sportsbooks on Wednesday night.

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 8-1 straight up in their last nine games against the Boston Celtics. The Cavaliers will try to pick up a fourth straight win over the Celtics on the road this Wednesday night.

Cleveland is a 1-point road favorite in Boston at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Despite the recent success that Cleveland has enjoyed against the Celtics in the win-loss column, the Cavaliers are just 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight games of this series.

The Cavaliers bounced back from an ugly home loss to the Chicago Bulls with a 102-95 win over Milwaukee on Monday night, finishing up the month of February with a 9-2 SU and 8-3 ATS record.

Cleveland added Deron Williams off the waiver wire just after the trade deadline, and he is set to make his debut on Wednesday night. With a win over Boston, the Cavaliers could extend their lead in the Eastern Conference standings to five games.

Over their last five road games, the Cavaliers are 4-1 SU and ATS, per the OddsShark NBA Database. Cleveland plays six of its next seven games on the road.

Betting Line / Total: Cleveland -1 / 222.5 Points

Trend: The Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games.

Trend: The OVER is 13-4-1 in the Cavaliers’ last 18 games.

Boston surged towards the All-Star break with an 11-1 SU and 6-6 ATS run, but a road loss to Chicago in the last game before the break and a slow start out of it have the Celtics at 1-3 SU and ATS over their last four games.

The offense has averaged just 100.5 points per game in its current slump, after scoring 111 points or more in nine of its previous 12 games. The Celtics decided to stand pat at the deadline after many rumors suggested they might make a big move to try to close the gap with Cleveland.

Wednesday night’s total is set at 222.5 points. The OVER is 13-4-1 in Cleveland’s last 18 games overall at sports betting sites.

The Celtics front office decided not to add a franchise player like a Paul George or Jimmy Butler via a trade, instead deciding to stick with this group for the rest of 2017. On Wednesday night, Boston will try to earn a win against Cleveland, which hasn’t been easy for the Celtics since LeBron James’ return.
