Duke vs. North Carolina 2017 odds: Blue Devils road underdog at Tar Heels on Saturday

Duke and North Carolina meet in the final game of their respective regular seasons on Saturday night, with the Tar Heels set as the betting favorites for the contest.

Mark Dolejs-USA TODAY Sports

The Duke Blue Devils are just 5-14 against the spread over their last 19 games with a 13-6 straight up record over that stretch. The Blue Devils will try to snap an 0-4 ATS slump this Saturday on the road against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Duke is a 6.5-point road underdog in Chapel Hill at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last six games as a betting underdog, the Blue Devils are 1-5 SU and 1-4-1 ATS.

With a 75-70 win at home over the Florida State Seminoles, the Blue Devils ended a two-game losing streak that came on the heels of a 7-0 SU run. Duke’s offense ranks 30th in the nation, averaging 80.4 points per game. But over the team’s last six games, that scoring average is all the way down to 61.5 points per game.

The Blue Devils were sharp on offense in an 86-78 win over North Carolina at home last month and will be looking to get back into form with a similar performance on Saturday.

The upper hand in this rivalry has gone to Duke of late, with the Blue Devils going 7-2 SU and 5-4 ATS in their last nine games against the Tar Heels per the OddsShark College Basketball Database.

Betting Line / Total: North Carolina -6.5 / 156 Points

Trend: The Blue Devils are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games as an underdog.

Trend: The UNDER is 8-2 in the Tar Heels’ last 10 games.

North Carolina was in the midst of a 4-0 SU and ATS hot streak when it picked up a surprising loss in a 53-43 dud at Virginia last Monday night. The Tar Heels couldn’t get anything going on offense against the Cavaliers just nine days after beating the same team at home by a score of 65-41.

With Kansas, UCLA, Villanova and Gonzaga all firmly in the running for a No. 1 seed, UNC might need a win in this one to keep its chances at a top seed alive.

Saturday night’s total is set at 156 points. The UNDER is 8-2 in North Carolina’s last 10 games.

The Blue Devils are one of the few teams in the nation that has had recent success against North Carolina on the road with a 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six road games against the Tar Heels. North Carolina can put an end to that run and earn an 11th straight home win with a victory over their biggest rival.
