Masters 2017 odds: Dustin Johnson looks to stay hot as Augusta betting favorite

Riding a winning streak, Dustin Johnson will try to earn his second major title this weekend.

Dustin Johnson has won each of his last three tournaments on the PGA Tour. The American will try to earn a fourth straight win and his second career major title with a victory at the Masters tournament this weekend.

Johnson is the +550 betting favorite at Augusta at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Since the beginning of February, Johnson has played in four tournaments. He finished third in the AT&T Pebble Beack Pro-Am and won the Genesis Open, the WGC Mexico Championship, and the WCG Dell Technologies Match Play event. No one in this tournament enters the event as hot as the 2016 US Open winner.

Jordan Spieth (+800) appeared to be on his way to back-to-back Masters titles last season with a five-stroke lead on Sunday, but a late meltdown opened the door for Danny Willett (+12500) to swoop in for the upset.

That fateful back nine on Sunday last year aside, Spieth has golfed exceptionally well at Augusta over the last two seasons and will be anxious to put those memories behind him with a strong performance in 2017.

Rory McIlroy (+700) has four major titles under his belt, but is still searching for his first win at Augusta National. McIlroy had a disappointing turn in the WGC Match Play event last month, but still finished in the Top 10 in three of the four tournaments he has participated in this year.

Hideki Matsuyama (+1800) sits right behind Dustin Johnson in the FedExCup rankings at No. 2 with 1753 points. Matsuyama has had an up-and-down season so far, but his ups include five Top-2 finishes with wins at the WGC HSBC Championship, the Hero World Challenge, and the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

For bettors looking to avoid the expensive prices on the Top 3, Matsuyama could provide some nice value on the golf betting lines this weekend.

Other potential contenders to win this year’s Masters include Rickie Fowler (+1800), Jason Day (+1800), Jon Rahm (+2500), Justin Rose (+2500), Phil Mickelson (+2800), Henrik Stenson (+3000), Adam Scott (+3500), and Bubba Watson (+4500). Watson is a two-time winner of the Masters with victories in 2012 and 2014.
