The Boston Celtics are tied for first place in the Eastern Conference thanks to a 9-2 straight up and 5-6 against the spread record over their last 11 games. The Celtics will try to knock off their challenger for top spot with a win at home over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night.

In 38 home games so far this season, the Celtics are just 16-22 ATS despite a 28-10 SU record in those 38 contests.

The Celtics’ decision to stand pat at the trade deadline was highly criticized by many, but so far it has paid off, as the team has played well down the stretch and looks poised for a deep run this postseason. Over the team’s current 6-1 SU run, Boston has averaged 112.6 points per game on offense.

Earning the top seed over Cleveland would be extremely helpful in the Celtics’ quest for an upset in a potential Eastern Conference Finals between these two teams.

While Boston has fared well with an 11-5-1 ATS record in its last 17 games against the Cavaliers, Cleveland holds an 8-2 SU advantage in the last 10 games between these two teams, per the OddsShark NBA Database.

Trend: The Celtics are 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 games against the Cavaliers.

Trend: The UNDER is 9-4 in the last 13 games between the Celtics and Cavaliers.

Cleveland Cavaliers

A once-forgone conclusion that the Cavaliers would finish with the top seed in the East became murky, following a 5-9 SU and 4-10 ATS slump from the defending champions in the month of March.

Three straight home games against Philadelphia, Indiana, and Orlando helped stop the bleeding, but the real test starts now with this road game against Boston and a home-and-home series against Atlanta. Cleveland is 7-13 SU and 6-14 ATS in its last 20 games on the second night of a back-to-back.

Both the Cavaliers and Celtics enter this game with control of their own destiny for the top spot in the East. The winner of this game will have the inside track to the top seed down the stretch, which should produce a playoff-like atmosphere Wednesday night in Boston.
