Rafael Nadal has won the French Open nine times over his illustrious career, winning all but one of the French Open tournaments from 2005 to 2014. The “King of Clay” will look to add to his record nine wins at Roland Garros with another in this year’s 2017 French Open.
French Open 2017 odds: Nadal set as the betting favorite over Djokovic, Murray
Rafael Nadal will be looking to earn his first Grand Slam title win since 2014 with a victory at the French Open, and the sportsbooks have listed him as the chalk for the event.

Nadal is a -125 favorite to win the French Open at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. After being hampered by injuries over the last few years, Nadal has been reminding the tennis world of how good he can be when healthy in 2017. The superstar already has three wins on clay this season, at Madrid, Monte Carlo, and Barcelona, and also has three runner-up finishes this year, including his thrilling final against Roger Federer in the Australian Open.
With his body holding up, Nadal looks ready to retake his crown here in France.
The biggest threat standing in his way is defending champion Novak Djokovic (+300 to win the French Open). Djokovic finally completed his career Grand Slam with a win in the French Open last season, the 12th Grand Slam title of his career and his sixth in nine Grand Slam tournaments since the start of the 2015 season.
The Serbian has struggled in the early stages of this season, but a coaching change and some minor tweaks to his game suggest a return to top form at a discount price and this tournament could be in the cards.
Andy Murray (+900) is coming off a career year in 2016 with nine wins that included his third career Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. Murray has never advanced to the finals in the French Open, but his clay game has improved with two runner-up finishes and one win last year on the surface.
Other potential contenders include Dominic Thiem (+900), Stan Wawrinka (+1000), and Alexander Zverev (+1400).
Wawrinka and Zverev will enter the French Open in good form after advancing to the finals to face each other at Geneva on Saturday morning. The 20-year-old Zverev entered Saturday’s final with three tournament wins already under his belt in 2017, including Munich and Rome on clay.
