Dustin Johnson won the first major of his career in last year’s U.S. Open tournament. This year, Johnson will look to become the first back-to-back winner in this event since Curtis Strange in 1998 and 1999.
U.S. Open golf odds 2017: Dustin Johnson betting favorite over Jordan Spieth
Dustin Johnson leads the way at the sportsbooks on the 2017 U.S. Open odds this week, with rivals Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, and Jason Day following him on the betting lines.

Johnson is going off as the +750 betting favorite to win the U.S. Open this weekend in Wisconsin at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Since racking up five straight Top 3 finishes including three wins from February through the Wells Fargo Championship in May, Johnson has cooled off of late with two finishes outside of the Top 10 and a missed cut in the Memorial Tournament.
The world’s No. 1 golfer doesn’t figure to stay in this slump for long and is a strong candidate to bounce back on the big stage.
Jordan Spieth (+1200 on the U.S. Open odds) has had a mixed bag in his last five tournaments, scoring Top 5 finishes in the Zurich Classic and the Dean & Deluca Invitational but also missing the cut in the PLAYERS Championship and the AT&T Byron Nelson event.
The 2015 U.S. Open champion will try to rebound from that poor performance in the PLAYERS this week.
Spieth sits at No. 5 in the FedExCup standings. Johnson owns the top spot, followed by Justin Thomas (+3300), Hideki Matsuyama (+2800), and Jon Rahm (+2200). Thomas and Rahm both have seven Top 10 finishes in 15 tournaments played this season, though Thomas has the edge in wins with three to Rahm’s one.
Matsuyama has finished outside of the Top 10 in 10 of his 14 tournaments this year, but has earned two wins on his strong showings.
Rory McIlroy (+1200) and Justin Rose (+2200) will both be seeking their second U.S. Open titles. McIlroy won this event in 2011 and Rose won it in 2013. Both players have four Top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour this season and are still looking for their first win of the year.
Other potential contenders on the golf odds looking for their first win in the U.S. Open include Jason Day (+1400), Rickie Fowler (+2000), Sergio Garcia (+2200), and Henrik Stenson (+2800). Garcia earned his first career major title earlier this season with his win in the Masters tournament.
