The Dallas Cowboys were the top-seeded team in the NFC last season with a 13-3 straight up and 10-5-1 against the spread record. The Cowboys will try to build on that momentum in 2017, starting with a win in the Hall of Fame Game against the Arizona Cardinals this Thursday night.

Dallas Cowboys
Backup quarterback Kellen Moore is expected to get the start under center in what will be his first game action in 19 months after missing all of 2016 with a broken ankle. Moore will likely play a series or two before journeyman Luke McCown takes over for the rest of the first half. Moore is penciled in as the Cowboys’ backup behind Dak Prescott this season, but McCown could potentially move his way up the depth chart depending on how the preseason plays out.
The Cowboys have been in two Hall of Fame Games under head coach Jason Garrett and are 2-0 SU and ATS in those two games. Dallas was 0-3 SU in its previous three Hall of Fame Game appearances.
Betting Line / Total: Dallas -1 / 35 Points
Arizona Cardinals
Coming off of a disappointing 7-8-1 SU and 6-10 ATS campaign in 2016, the Cardinals will try to work their way back into playoff contention this year. Head Coach Bruce Arians is taking no chances for injuries to his quarterbacks in this game, announcing that both starter Carson Palmer and backup Drew Stanton won’t see action on Thursday.
Third stringer Blaine Gabbert will get the bulk of the work at quarterback for the Cardinals and will be backed up by undrafted Texas A&M rookie Trevor Knight. Arizona is 4-8 SU over its last 12 preseason games, according to the OddsShark NFL Database.
Thursday’s total is set at 35 points. The OVER is 7-0 in Arizona’s last seven games.
The Hall of Fame Game generally doesn’t earn many style points as starters rest and players low on the depth chart shake off a long offseason. But for NFL bettors, even sloppy football is great football.
