Over their last 22 games, the San Francisco 49ers are 3-19 straight up and 6-15-1 against the spread. San Francisco 49ers
Kyle Shanahan was brought in for his brilliance as an offensive coordinator, but that brilliance hasn’t translated into any offense for San Francisco just yet. The 49ers haven’t scored a touchdown in their first two games, averaging a paltry 232.5 total yards per game and six points per game.
The defense played well in holding Seattle to only 12 points on the road last week, but the offense clearly has a long way to go.
The 49ers haven’t shown much bite as a home underdog with an 0-6 SU and 1-5 ATS record in their last six instances as one per the OddsShark NFL Database.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams have taken major strides on offense under new head coach Sean McVay, averaging 352.5 yards per game and 33 points per game through their first two games.
A blowout win over Indianapolis in Week 1 and a seven-point loss last Sunday to Washington is a far cry from how Los Angeles ended last season with an 0-7 SU and ATS run with an average margin of defeat of 19.4 points per game. The Rams are 0-6 ATS in their last six games against NFC opponents.
Thursday night’s total is set at 40 points. The UNDER is 18-6 in San Francisco’s last 24 home games.
Early season form and current rosters point to the Rams winning this game. But for whatever reason, the 49ers have Los Angeles’ number, and they will enter this game with both home-field advantage and a mental edge over their division rival. Whether or not Los Angeles can overcome that edge will help determine how much this team has grown since last year.
