The Warriors ended a two-game homestand with a surprising loss to the Los Angeles Clippers as 12-point favorites last Wednesday before bouncing back with back-to-back road wins over Milwaukee and Toronto.
For whatever reason, Golden State is playing better on the road than at home this season with a 19-3 SU and 11-11 ATS record away from home and a 16-6 SU and 9-12-1 ATS record in Oakland. The defending champions haven’t lost on the road since dropping a game to the Oklahoma City Thunder back on Nov22.
Golden State went 6-1 SU and 5-1-1 ATS in its seven meetings with the Cavaliers in 2017 per the OddsShark NBA Database. This will be the first meeting between these two teams in 2018.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Cleveland is mired in a month-long slump that has seen the Cavaliers go 3-8 SU and 1-10 ATS over their last 11 games. Regular season slumps aren’t too out of character for the Cavaliers in recent years, but with Kyrie Irving now in Boston, falling too far behind the Celtics for the top spot in the Eastern Conference isn’t ideal for this year’s group.
The general consensus is that LeBron’s squad will still be the team to beat out East as it has been for a decade, but the Cavaliers would love to start finding some wins sooner rather than later.
Monday night’s total is set at 231 points. The UNDER is 8-4 in Cleveland’s last 12 games as a home underdog.
Considering the current form between these two teams and Golden State’s recent dominance over the Cavaliers, the Warriors are correctly going off as the favorite in this showdown. But if anything is going to get Cleveland to snap out of its slump and bring out a top performance it should be a battle against this hated rival.
