Boston Celtics
The Celtics trailed the 76ers by as many as 22 points at the O2 Arena before eventually roaring back in the second half to win the game. Boston also erased a 12-point deficit at home on Tuesday night to force overtime with the New Orleans Pelicans but fell short of an eighth straight win with a 116-113 loss.
Even after the loss the Celtics still hold the best record in the Eastern Conference at 34-11 SU and 27-6-2 ATS and hold the inside track towards the conference’s top seed this postseason.
Tuesday’s loss to New Orleans was Boston’s sixth at home. The Celtics are 18-6 SU and 13-9-2 ATS in Boston this season per the OddsShark NBA Database.
Philadelphia 76ers
Philadelphia bounced back nicely from its overseas loss to Boston with a 117-111 win over Toronto on Monday back on the team’s home court. The 76ers are 5-1 SU and ATS over their last six games since going 2-10 SU and 2-9-1 ATS over their previous 11.
The offense has averaged 112.3 points per game over Philadelphia’s last seven games, but production could take a hit with the team’s second leading scorer JJ Redick set to miss at least two weeks with a leg injury.
Thursday night’s total is set at 211.5 points. The OVER is 4-1 in Philadelphia’s last five games.
Given that Boston was able to completely dominate the second half of its game against Philadelphia in London last week, it doesn’t bode well for the 76ers to now have to try to solve the Celtics without Redick in Boston. Boston’s flare for the dramatic could keep this game close in the early stages but look for the Celtics to pull away on their home court late.
