The New England Patriots are 9-1 straight up and against the spread in their last 10 games coming off an ATS loss. After failing to cover the spread and needing a fourth quarter comeback in their AFC Championship Game win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Patriots will try to bounce back with a more complete effort in Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The New England Patriots will be looking to win a second straight Super Bowl as they prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles as the betting favorites in Minneapolis.

New England is a 5-point favorite in Minneapolis at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Patriots covered the spread as a 3-point favorite in last year’s Super Bowl with a 34-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Even when the Patriots aren’t at their best they still tend to find a way. Bill Belichick once again proved why he is one of the best coaches of all time in making a series of second-half adjustments to shut the Jaguars down after a rough first half on defense. The ageless Tom Brady led New England on two touchdown drives in the fourth quarter to erase a 10-point deficit and win, 24-20.
The Patriots didn’t cover the spread against the Jaguars as 8-point favorites but are still 13-1 SU and 11-3 ATS over their last 14 games.
Going back even farther, New England is 32-5 SU and 28-9 ATS on the NFL lines over its last 37 games. Sportsbooks can’t seem to set the line high enough on the Patriots.
Philadelphia Eagles
Once again getting no respect going off as a 3-point home underdog against Minnesota, the Eagles totally dominated the game on both sides of the ball and rolled to a 38-7 victory. The Eagles haven’t allowed more than 10 points in any of their last four games, allowing an average of only 8.3 per game over that stretch.
Philadelphia is 13-4 SU and ATS in its last 17 games against AFC opponents.
The Super Bowl total is set at 48 points. The OVER is 7-2 in Philadelphia’s last nine games as an underdog per the OddsShark NFL Database.
Many are boiling this game down to Brady vs. Nick Foles and quickly ruling the Eagles out as a serious contender. But remember that Jacksonville came within a big play or two of upsetting the Patriots in New England thanks to their play on defense.
With the way the Eagles are flying on that side of the ball, don’t expect Brady to have a cakewalk under center.
