Houston Rockets
James Harden’s hamstring injury scare turned out to be the best case scenario for the Rockets as their star guard was able to return at the low end of his projected absence, missing only two weeks of action.
The Rockets went 4-3 SU and ATS without Harden and are 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS since his return, including a satisfying 116-108 win at home over the Golden State Warriors last Saturday.
Houston entered Tuesday just three games behind Golden State for the top seed in the West and Harden’s quick return should keep them in the hunt down the stretch.
The Rockets are 2-4 SU and ATS in their last six games as a road favorite per the OddsShark NBA Database. Houston was 14-0 SU and 9-5 ATS in its previous 14 games as a road favorite.
Dallas Mavericks
Harrison Barnes has followed up his breakout season last year with another strong campaign so far in 2017-18, leading the Mavericks in points (18.5) and rebounds (6.8) per game. At just 25 years old, Barnes is an important part of Dallas’ young core that also includes impressive rookie Dennis Smith Jr. who is averaging 14.8 points per game. Since starting the season off just 2-14 SU and 4-12 ATS, the Mavericks have been surprisingly competitive with a 14-17 SU and 19-12 ATS record on the NBA odds over their last 31 games.
Wednesday’s total is set at 217 points. The UNDER is 5-0 in Houston’s last five games.
Since playing back-to-back games on Jan. 3 and 4, the Rockets have had at least one day off in between every game and will continue to do so until early February. With no concerns about fatigue or looking ahead, Houston shouldn’t have trouble taking care of business in Dallas.
