Houston Rockets
The Rockets bounced back from their 108-105 loss in Toronto with a vengeance, crushing Dallas 105-82 on the road and then smashing San Antonio 109-93 at home. Houston looks like a real threat to the Golden State Warriors at this point, entering Tuesday’s action with a lead in the two teams’ race for first place in the Western Conference and the highest point differential in the league at +9 points per game.
James Harden was edged out for league MVP by Russell Westbrook’s triple-double campaign last season but looks well on his way to winning the crown this year.
Earning home court advantage throughout the postseason would be huge for Houston. The Rockets are 12-0 SU and 6-6 ATS over their last 12 home games per the OddsShark NBA Database.
Los Angeles Clippers
Since losing three straight games and trading away former franchise star Blake Griffin in late January, the Clippers have been on a pretty impressive run. Los Angeles has won each of its last three games and is 14-5 SU and 11-8 ATS over its last 19 games.
The offense has been on fire of late averaging 118.7 points over the team’s last 11 games. Interestingly, the only time that the Clippers have failed to score at least 112 points in their last 12 games was in a 105-92 home loss to Houston.
Thursday’s total is set at 224.5. The UNDER is 4-0 in Houston’s last four games.
The low offensive outputs from both of these teams the last time they met came as a surprise in a game that had a total set at 228.5 points. Expect a lot more fireworks this time around as two of the league’s hottest offenses collide in Houston.
