San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs’ playoff hopes were seriously in doubt on the heels of an awful 3-11 SU and 4-10 ATS slump that started back on February 1. The team responded with a 6-0 SU and ATS home stand to get things back on track, but then dropped both of their road games to Milwaukee and Washington this week.
San Antonio plays three of its last four games on its home court, but the next three all come against tough opponents facing Oklahoma City, Houston and Portland. Kawhi Leonard remains out with a quad injury that has cost him all but nine games this season.
Closing as a home underdog just 13 times since November of 2008, the Spurs are 4-9 SU and ATS over that run per the OddsShark NBA Database.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Oklahoma City has been a streaky team all season, but since February 14 the Thunder have put together a fairly consistent 12-5 SU and 7-9-1 ATS run. The Thunder are 1-2 SU and 0-2-1 ATS over their last three games since going 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS over their previous six, but they can prevent this from becoming a slump with a win on Thursday.
Through their first 37 road games, the Thunder are 18-19 SU and 15-22 ATS.
Thursday’s action begins with Oklahoma City sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference and San Antonio sitting in sixth place. There is a chance that these two teams may meet in a first round 4-seed vs. 5-seed matchup, but with only four games separating the No. 4 seed from the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference right now, the most important thing for these clubs is securing their playoff berths.
