Washington Capitals
The Capitals are holding on to a slim lead in the Metropolitan Division, entering Tuesday’s action with a one-point lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins with two games in hand.
Washington has seemingly steadied the ship in winning three of its last four games since losing five of its previous seven. With that said, all three of those wins came at home; the Capitals have lost three of their last four road games and are looking ahead at a tough trip that includes Anaheim, Los Angeles and San Jose.
Since 2008, the Capitals have enjoyed a good amount of success against Anaheim with a 10-4 moneyline record against the Ducks per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Anaheim Ducks
Anaheim is finally picking up steam with wins in six of its last eight games after going 2-5 on the moneyline over its previous seven games. The Ducks sit one point behind San Jose and one point ahead of Los Angeles with 16 games left on all three of these teams’ schedules. While the Vegas Golden Knights are comfortably sitting in the top spot in the Pacific, Anaheim would love to stay out of the wild card race by securing one of the two spots behind them. The Ducks are 10-3 in their last 13 games at home.
Tuesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals. The OVER is 3-0 in Anaheim’s last three games and 12-4-1 in Washington’s last 17.
Both of these teams have plenty to play for with just over a month remaining in the regular season. Alexander Ovechkin notched his 40th goal of the season on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs and enters this game with 10 goals and 13 assists in 15 career games against the Ducks.
