The Diamondbacks’ hot start to the season hasn’t moved the needle much as far as MLB futures go as the team is still going off at +1400 to win the National League and +3000 on the odds to win the World Series.
It’s worth noting though that Arizona’s team ERA that currently ranks third in the majors at 2.72 is no fluke; the team finished third in the MLB in team ERA last season, too. Arizona has an excellent staff that should keep this team in the playoff hunt all season long.
Last season in the playoffs, the Diamondbacks were swept out of the postseason by the Dodgers. Arizona swept the Dodgers in a three-game series earlier this month to get some revenge, improving to 9-0 in its last nine regular season games against Los Angeles per the OddsShark MLB Database.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Much like Arizona’s hot start hasn’t had much of an effect on the odds, Los Angeles’ ugly 4-7 start has also done nothing to change the Dodgers’ status as a World Series favorite at +550. Los Angeles got off to a mediocre 10-12 start in 2017 too before eventually finishing with the best record in the majors at 104-58. The Dodgers are 3-3 through their first six home games in 2018.
Friday’s total is set at seven runs. The OVER is 4-2 in the last six games these two teams have played in Los Angeles.
Games in April count the same in the standings as games in September do, so Arizona would love to kick the Dodgers while they are down and pick up some valuable wins. After Friday’s game, the series will wrap up over the weekend with pitching matchups between Taijuan Walker vs. Rich Hill on Saturday and Zack Godley vs. Clayton Kershaw on Sunday.
