Vegas Golden Knights
One of the concerns for the Golden Knights heading into the postseason was whether or not their fast-paced style would work in the playoffs, which tend to be much more physical and tight.
Vegas has quickly brushed aside those concerns with three excellent games against Los Angeles, tightening up in the defensive zone and matching the Kings’ physicality with plenty of their own. Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been in top form in this series owning a dazzling 0.84 goals-against average and a .970 save percentage thus far.
The Golden Knights have thrived as a betting underdog this season and are 13-6 on the moneyline in their last 19 games as one per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Los Angeles Kings
In their first season under new head coach John Stevens, the Kings managed to keep up their defensive identity finishing with the best goals-against average in the league (2.46) while also significantly ramping up their offense.
Los Angeles scored 2.89 goals per game during the regular season for their most productive offensive campaign in 12 years. But through just under 11 periods of hockey in this series, the Kings have managed only three goals. The Kings are just 1-7 over their last eight playoff games.
Tuesday’s total is set at five goals. The UNDER is 2-0-1 so far in this series.
Los Angeles is one of only four teams in NHL history to win a series after falling behind 0-3, doing so in the first round of their Stanley Cup run against the San Jose Sharks in 2014. To make this series interesting and to avoid a sweep against the Golden Knights, the Kings will need to figure out something on offense in a hurry.
