Golden State Warriors
The Warriors’ lackluster 6-15 ATS run to end the regular season has given way to the team’s top form in the postseason. Golden State followed up a 113-92 blowout win in Game 1 with another one at 116-101 in Game 2.
After back-to-back blowout wins at home against the Spurs last postseason, the Warriors went on to complete the sweep with two double-digit wins and covers in San Antonio.
Those wins are part of the overarching trend that Golden State has enjoyed a good deal of recent success against the Spurs. The Warriors are 10-1 SU and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against San Antonio per the OddsShark NBA Database.
San Antonio Spurs
With Kawhi Leonard out for most of the regular season, San Antonio did an admirable job just to advance into the postseason. Without Leonard, the Spurs don’t appear to have enough scoring depth behind LaMarcus Aldridge to keep up with a team of the caliber of Golden State.
But perhaps the tone of the series will change in San Antonio, where the Spurs are 11-0 SU and 10-1 ATS over their last 11 games. The Spurs have held opponents to just 92.8 points per game over their home winning streak including an 89-75 win over the Warriors last month.
Thursday night’s total is set at 206 points. The UNDER is 8-3 in San Antonio’s last 11 home games.
Even without Stephen Curry, the Warriors entered this series in very little danger of an upset with three fourths of their core in Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green still intact. Golden State will almost certainly win the series, but San Antonio could steal a game at home with their crazed fans behind them and a stout effort on defense.
