Houston Rockets
One of the most underrated aspects of this dominant Rockets team this season has been its defense. While better known for its offense that finished second in the NBA with 112.4 points per game, Houston also possessed an excellent defense this season that ranked sixth in the NBA allowing 103.9 points per game.
That defense has been on display in the first round of the NBA playoffs as the Rockets have allowed only 91.5 points per game through their first two games.
The Rockets have been an excellent bet as road favorites this season going 15-1 SU and 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 instances as one per the OddsShark NBA Database.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves were able to push Houston to the limit in a tight Game 1 falling just short of an upset in a 104-101 loss. Game 2 got off to a good start as Minnesota led at the end of the first quarter 23-18, but it was all Houston the rest of the way.
Minnesota’s best chance of stealing a game in this series may come in Game 3; in 269 instances that the higher seed in an NBA series has taken a 2-0 series lead all-time, the home team in Game 3 is 150-109 SU.
Saturday night’s total is set at 214 points. The UNDER is 6-0 in Houston’s last six games.
Taking in their first playoff game in 14 years, the crowd in Minneapolis is going to be rocking in Game 3. Minnesota will try to use that home crowd energy to jump out to a big lead early. If the Timberwolves are unable to do so, Houston could be in position to bring out the brooms when this series continues in Game 4 on Monday.
