The New Orleans Pelicans had a 9-0 straight up and against the spread streak snapped in their 123-101 loss to the Golden State Warriors in Game 1. The Pelicans hope to avoid another blowout defeat this Tuesday night in Game 2 against the Warriors.

New Orleans is a 10.5-point road underdog in Oakland at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The blowout loss suffered by the Pelicans in Game 1 coupled with the impending return of Stephen Curry has bumped the line up three points from the 7.5 it closed at in Game 1.

New Orleans Pelicans
After an impressive showing in a first-round sweep of the Portland Trail Blazers that included an average offensive output of 120.3 points per game over the last three games of the series, the Pelicans appeared to be playing at a level that could at least give Golden State a bit of a scare.
That wasn’t the case in Game 1 however as New Orleans came crashing down to Earth with a 123-101 loss. Things may get better in New Orleans, but nothing about the way Game 1 played out instilled much confidence in the Pelicans stealing one on the road.
New Orleans is just 1-16 SU and 8-9 ATS in its last 17 games as a double-digit underdog, according to the OddsShark NBA Database. The Pelicans are 0-2 SU and ATS in their last two games as a double-digit underdog against the Warriors.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State hasn’t looked like a team that needs help with a 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS record through the first six games of its postseason. But after missing 22 of Golden State’s last 23 games, Steph Curry is probable to return to action in Game 2.
Curry will likely be eased back into his normal role as keeping him healthy for a potential matchup against Houston in the next round will be a top priority.
Tuesday’s total is set at 226.5 points. The OVER is 7-3 in New Orleans’ last 10 games.
While the prospect of getting Curry back is obviously exciting for Warriors backers, it may take a couple of games for the offense to find its rhythm again. Golden State shouldn’t have any trouble winning outright, but lineup tinkering could make the 10.5-point spread a close call on Tuesday.
