New York Mets
The Mets jumped out to a big early lead for the top spot in the NL East when they put together an impressive 11-1 start to the season through their first 12 games. But New York has won only one series since then going a pedestrian 6-8 over their last 14 games.
The team will be without Yoenis Cespedes for at least the first two games of this series as the two-time All-Star outfielder injured his thumb on a head first slide in Sunday’s 14-2 win over the San Diego Padres.
Noah Syndergaard is 2-0 with a 2.86 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP in six starts this season. The Mets are 5-1 over those six starts per the OddsShark MLB Database.
Atlanta Braves
Atlanta has surprisingly emerged as one of the best offenses in the majors in 2018. With Freddie Freeman’s .314 batting average and 19 runs leading the way, the Braves are second in the MLB in runs scored with 5.6 per game and third in team batting average at .268.
Currently just 1.5 games behind the Mets for the division lead in the NL East, the Braves look like a legitimate contender to win the division should the Washington Nationals continue to struggle.
Tuesday night’s total is set at 7.5 runs. The UNDER is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings between the Mets and the Braves.
This should be a very interesting series between two teams looking to fight their way back into relevancy after 90-loss seasons last year. Julio Teheran and Jacob deGrom are penciled in for Wednesday night and the series wraps up on Thursday night with Mike Foltynewicz facing off against Steven Matz.
