Nashville Predators
After suffering a disappointing 6-2 defeat at home in Game 5, the Predators would need to steal a game on the road from the best home team in the NHL to extend this series.
They did just that, dominating Winnipeg in a 4-0 victory fueled by a three-point night by Filip Forsberg. Forsberg’s two goals and one assist on Monday brought his totals over Nashville’s last five games to three goals and six assists. Pekka Rinne was also sensational in the win stopping all 34 of the shots that he faced.
Since going 13-1 over their previous 14 postseason home games, the Predators are just 3-3 over their last six per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets have to be kicking themselves for letting this series get to seven games. Winnipeg was 13-0 in its previous 13 home games before dropping back-to-back home games to the Predators in Game 4 and Game 6. This has been an odd series though as the Jets have actually been better on the road, winning Game 1 and Game 5 and forcing overtime in Game 2. The Jets are 6-2 in their last eight road games overall.
Thursday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals. The OVER is 5-2 in Winnipeg’s last seven games on the road.
With the two teams that finished highest in the NHL standings squaring off, this series has lived up to its high expectations. The winner of Game 7 will likely emerge as the favorite to win the Stanley Cup, while the loser will have to wait until next year to make another run. For Nashville to fend off another defeat at home, Rinne will need to have another performance like he did in Game 6.
