Houston Rockets
The Rockets put on a clinic from the opening whistle on Sunday, jumping out to a 34-21 lead in the first quarter and extending that lead to 64-39 at halftime. James Harden had his best performance of the playoffs so far, shooting 7-for-12 from three-point range and finishing with 41 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
With the win, Houston improved to 3-0 SU and ATS over its last three home games with an average margin of victory of 17.3 points per game over that stretch.
As a double-digit favorite, Houston is 19-0 SU over its last 19 games and 7-5 ATS over its last 12 per the OddsShark NBA Database.
Utah Jazz
Upsetting the regular season’s best team would be tough enough at full strength, but the Jazz are trying to do so shorthanded. Ricky Rubio, who averaged 14 points, 7.3 rebounds, and seven assists through Utah’s first-round series against the Oklahoma City Thunder, injured his hamstring in Game 6 of that series and will need at least another week before he is ready to return.
The Jazz enter Game 2 with an 0-5 SU and ATS record in their last five games against the Rockets.
Wednesday night’s total is set at 204.5 points. The UNDER is 12-2 in Houston’s last 14 games as a double-digit favorite
Utah has had a great season getting to this point, finishing the regular season with the best defense in the NBA, allowing only 99.8 points per game and then upsetting the higher-seeded Thunder in the first round. But Houston has looked nearly untouchable all season long, and at home the Rockets should continue to roll in Game 2.
