Boston Bruins
For the second straight round, the Bruins got off to an excellent start in Game 1, blowing Tampa Bay out, 6-2. Boston’s outstanding top line of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and David Pastrnak combined for three goals and eight assists in the rout while Rick Nash also pitched in two goals.
The momentum of that win did not carry over into Game 2 however as the Bruins fell short in a 4-2 loss that evened the series up at one game apiece.
In addition to being excellent on home ice in general, the Bruins have also had their share of success at home against the Lightning. Boston is 15-3 in its last 18 home games against Tampa Bay per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Tampa Bay Lightning
Tampa Bay bounced back from its loss at home in Game 1 in impressive fashion on Monday night, out-shooting the Bruins, 11-0, en route to a 1-0 lead in the first six minutes of play.
The Lightning ended up out-shooting Boston 31-20 over the course of the game and outhitting them 42-24, avoiding an 0-2 series hole with their 4-2 victory. To regain home ice, the Lightning will need to pick up a win on the road, where they are just 2-4 over their last six games.
Wednesday night’s total is set at six goals. The OVER is 6-0-4 in Boston’s last 10 games at home with all 10 of those games producing at least six goals.
Only one point separated these teams after 82 regular-season games, so it should come as no surprise that this series is knotted up at 1-1 heading back to Boston. This has the makings of a long series, but Boston would love for it to only go five or six by converting its home ice
