Vegas Golden Knights
After dropping the first game of the Western Conference final to the Winnipeg Jets 4-2, Vegas quickly rebounded to win each of the next four games of the series including two upsets in Winnipeg to close out the series in five games.
Marc-Andre Fleury was once again sensational in his team’s series against the Jets, stopping 129 of the 135 shots he faced over those four wins for a .956 save percentage over that stretch. Fleury is having the best postseason of his career logging a 1.68 goals-against average and .947 save percentage thus far.
In the two regular season meetings between these two teams, Vegas won the series with a 2-0 straight up and against the spread record per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Washington Capitals
Washington found itself on the brink of elimination after dropping three straight games to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference final. Facing elimination in both Game 6 and Game 7, the Capitals played their best hockey of the postseason to date, shutting out the Lightning 3-0 in Game 6 and 4-0 on the road in Game 7.
The Capitals hope they have the antidote for the red-hot Marc-Andre Fleury in Alexander Ovechkin, who has 12 goals and 10 assists through 19 games this postseason. Washington is 9-2 in its last 11 games as a betting underdog.
Monday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals. The UNDER is 4-2 in Washington’s last six road games.
This should be an exciting series. Both teams are playing great, getting great goaltending and balanced scoring. And both are also very strong on the road, which could lead to plenty of upsets throughout the finals.
