Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers hit rock bottom on May 16, losing a secod straight game on the road to the lowly Miami Marlins. That loss brought Los Angeles to 1-9 over its last 10 games and 16-26 on the season. Since then, it’s been an uphill climb for the Dodgers, who swept the Colorado Rockies over the weekend to move to within one game of .500 at 29-30.
Los Angeles put together the best 50-game run in MLB history last season going 43-7, and while this streak isn’t likely to hit those heights, this does seem to be a team that is comfortable in the dog days of summer.
In their last seven games on the road, the Dodgers are a perfect 7-0 per the OddsShark MLB Database.
Pittsburgh Pirates
While the Dodgers have been climbing in the standings in recent weeks, the Pirates have been falling.
Pittsburgh was right in the heart of a competitive battle for the top spot in the NL Central with a 26-17 record on the heels of an 8-1 run back on May 17. But since then, the Pirates have gone just 4-12, falling to 30-29 on the season and 6.5 games back from the division lead. The Pirates are 6-1 in their last seven games as a home underdog.
Tuesday night’s total is set at eight runs. The OVER is 5-1-1 in Los Angeles’s last seven games.
The momentum heading into this series is clearly on the Dodgers’ side, but these two teams are separated by just one game in the standings. Pittsburgh’s Trevor Williams will face an undecided spot start on Wednesday and Jameson Taillon will take on Dennis Santana on Thursday.
