Even after losing their last three games, the Astros enter their series against the Rangers with a staggering +170 run differential, 50 runs ahead of the next best team in the league in the Boston Red Sox. Houston sits slightly behind Boston and the New York Yankees in run production averaging 5.03 runs per game but has a clear advantage in Team ERA at 2.84; a full half of a run lower than the Yankees in second place in this category.
But despite their statistical dominance, the 55-31 Astros have the surging Seattle Mariners breathing down their necks for the top spot in the AL West.
Dallas Keuchel has been the weak spot in Houston’s rotation this season with a 4.22 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. The Astros are 4-4 straight up and 2-6 against the spread in his last eight starts.
Texas Rangers
Since snapping an eight-game losing streak back on June 16, the Rangers have been on a tear. Texas is 11-3 over its last 14 games and has been crushing the ball on offense averaging 6.5 runs per game over that stretch.
The run has come against a handful of weak teams in the Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins, San Diego Padres, and Chicago White Sox; it will be interesting to see if it carries over against a powerhouse like Houston.

The Astros enter this two-game series with a 6-0 record in their last six games against the Rangers. The short series wraps up on Wednesday with a matchup of Lance McCullers Jr. vs Mike Minor.
