Despite being named the most powerful man in sports media by Sports Illustrated, it appears even Bill Simmons isn’t above the law at ESPN. The “Sports Guy” and Grantland editor-in-chief earned himself a brief suspension from tweeting by The Worldwide Leader from March 12-14, according to a Deadspin report. Simmons has, however, been allowed to retweet Grantland articles and podcasts he has taken part in.
ESPN’s Bill Simmons suspended from Twitter
Bill Simmons’s comments about ESPN’s “First Take” earned him a brief Twitter hiatus.
Simmons’ suspension stems from comments he made on the social media network March 8 with regard to Richard Sherman’s now infamous appearance on the ESPN debate-off, First Take.

But what bothers me about the reaction to that segment is people saying Richard Sherman "won." Nobody won. Everyone lost. Including ESPN.

The Deadspin report states that, since running into trouble with these tweets, he has cancelled a trip to New York for a “Grantland East brainstorming session.” He will supposedly be returning to Twitter Friday.
This is the second time Simmons has been suspended from tweeting by ESPN, as a tweet that called a Boston-based ESPN Radio affiliate “deceitful scumbags” earned him a two-week hiatus, save for being able to tweet about his then just-released The Book of Basketball.
