Roma put five past Bologna to keep their spot at the top of Serie A. Inter and Fiorentina both slipped up, but Juventus and Napoli both won, keeping them close behind.

It was yet another drab and dreary performance from the rossoneri, who still struggle with a lengthy injury list and a manager that may or may get caught out. Maximilliano Allegri wiggled away this time, however, thanks to a goal from Valter Biersa and the fact that Sampdoria are pretty much crap.

Parma snatch last-gasp point at Fiorentina

    Gabriele Maltinti

However, Parma had other ideas. Throwing their entire team forward in the dying moments, a deep cross towards the far post wasn’t dealt with by either Neto or his defenders. Wing-back Massimo Gobbi -- an unlikely goalscoring source -- leaped to meet the ball practically on the goal-line, bundling it into the net. It was a dramatic finish to an exciting game, though after such second half domination Fiorentina were left kicking themselves.

    Goals: Rodríguez 64’, Vargas 78’.

Parma hope to pose Fiorentina problems

    Marco Luzzani

There’s no doubt that Fiorentina head in as favourites, though with Parma having gelled so well going forward for the game against Atalanta, this should be an interesting match. Both sides love playing with the ball at their feet, and goals should be expected (probably just jinxed it - sorry).

Bologna made it all too easy for Roma

    Claudio Villa

Roma sure had an impressive first 25 minutes, going up 3-0 in that time. The giallorossi then took their foot off the gas for the remainder of the first half, but it mattered little, as Bologna could barely muster up the energy to string together a decent attack. Then, after a rejuvenating halftime cappuccino and toweling-off session, Roma returned to put two more past an unsteady, unstable and quite frankly crap Bologna back line.

Roma almost had their second just two minutes later, when Curci rushed out to stop a threatening Federico Balzaretti. The left back failed to get his second goal for the club, however, putting his shot just wide. Bologna did manage to get themselves into a good position shortly after, thanks to young Diego Laxalt, but the Uruguayan went down hoping for a penalty. Bologna failed to get past the first man with their resulting corner.

Newcomers give Biancocelesti a big scare

On 15 minutes, Hernanes picked out Antonio Candreva to cut inside Francecso Acerbi, but his shot swung away from the far post. The Italian international had another chance, only to see a weak effort roll straight into Pegolo’s gloves.

The home side restricted Lazio to long range efforts. Hernanes’ shot from distance didn’t trouble Pegolo. Five minutes before the break, Schelotto’s pass unleashed Zaza, whose quick turn and first time shot caught everyone by surprise as it crept past the far post.
