Much of the play's work came from Seamus Coleman, who took a ball from 28 yards out and made for the line through the right side of the Liverpool area. Just before the byline, the Irish right back cut the ball back to Cahill who, from the six's right elbow, beat Pepe Reina high for the match's opening goal.
