Jaguares had dominated the entirety of the first half, creating a flurry of chances, but it took until the 33rd minute of play for them to find the opening goal of the match.
Jaguares de Chiapas 1-0 Pachuca: Jorge Rodriguez Opens The Scoring
Danilinho, playing a more advanced second striker role than he has the past couple of weeks because of the benching of striker Carlos Ochoa, provided a great assist on the goal by Jorge Rodriguez. Danilinho surged down the right with the ball, hitting a cross from the byline from the edge of the 18 yard area. Pachuca third string goalkeeper Carlos Velazquez, playing due to injuries and suspensions, dived to punch the ball away but missed. The ball fell to Rodriguez, who was making a back post run, and he tapped it in easily to give his team a deserved lead.
Pachuca have created very little going forward to start the match and have let Jaguares have the majority of the possession. Sacrificing Carlos Ochoa for an extra midfielder has proven to be an astute tactical decision by Jaguares manager Jose Guadalupe Cruz.
