Euro 2012 Qualifying: John Arne Riise Gives Norway Second Minute Lead on Cyprus

Cyprus has been thought a possible surprise packet in Group H, particularly after drawn Portugal 4-4 to open qualifying. Today, though, the surprise wsa on them, with Norwegian John Arne Riise’s second minute goal giving his country a 0-1 lead at Cyrprus.

Norway came into the day top of Group H, having posted wins over Iceland and Portugal. The nation now has a chance to take a commanding lead in the group, should their lead hold-up. The win would move them to nine points, and if Denmark draws in Porto against Portugal later today, Norway would have a five point lead after three rounds.

The match remains 0-1, now in the 32nd minute.
