Euro 2012 Qualifying: Slovenia, Greece Record Home Victories

Slovenia is now on four points after their 5-1 win over the Faroe Islands. Groningen attacker Tim Matavz had three goals in just over an hour, with goals by Milivoje Novakovic and Zlatko Dedic closing out the Slovene’s scoresheet. A stopped time goal from Christian Mouritsen gave the visitors a small amount of consolation.

The result puts Slovenia even with Serbia and Northern Ireland on four points in Group C.

In Piraeus, Greece got an early second half goal from Vassilis Torosidis and make it hold up, earning a 1-0 win over Latvia. With the win, Greece is now even with Georgia at the top of Group F, with the two nations awaiting tomorrow’s Israel-Croatia match.
