The first leg of the Liguilla matchup between Group Two rivals San Luis and Club America has ended in a scoreless tie, but not for a lack of action. San Luis were on their game all night but couldn’t put one in the back of the net. Club America, while they played a more conservative game than the hosts, had a few scoring opportunities as well, but most of them came in the first half and San Luis keeper Cesar Lozano was on his game.
San Luis vs. Club America: 0-0 Full Time, God Hates San Luis
San Luis had the majority of the scoring chances in the match, registering a significant amount of shots on target and forcing Club America goalkeeper Memo Ochoa into seven saves, leading him to be named man of the match. San Luis had plenty of other chances just barely go begging as well, having multiple shots drift inches wide of either post and hitting the crossbar in the final five minutes of the match. It was an incredibly unlucky result for the hosts who certainly deserved to score two or three goals.
A 0-0 result in San Luis certainly favors Club America, who now only need to draw at home in the return leg to advance to the semi-finals. That return leg takes place on Saturday at Estadio Azteca and the match can be seen at 8 pm ET on Telefutura.
